THREADS'- 'חוטים'- "خيوط": This is the trailer of the documentary 'THREADS'- an interview with Ruth Dayan- A Pioneer of Israeli Economic and Cultural Diplomacy.

 

At 103 Ruth is still an active activist and the head behind the newly revived fashion house 'Maskit'. 'Maskit; is Israel's first haute couture Israeli fashion house launched in 1954 with the help of the talented head designer Fini Laitersdorf. 'Maskit' became a global phenomenon collaborating with Givenchy, Dior and Yves Saint Laurent and was featured on the cover of American Vogue. 'Maskit' created jobs for 2000 Jewish immigrants, Arabs Bedouins and Israeli Arabs and empowered women to preserve their ethnic origins and cultures from all over the world. After the 6 day war in 1967 one of Maskit's top inspirations became Israeli-Arab coexistence. 'Maskit' is a newly revived brand and Ruth has been working hand in hand with the Israeli designer and former head of embroidery for Alexander Mequeen: Yael Sharon, to make sure this new carnation encompasses Ruth's pioneer vision: that authentic middle eastern high end fashion can be worn by fashionistas all around the world and at the same time help create financial and artistic collaborations between Arabs and Jews. 'Maskit' sets an example that fashion houses can simultaneously be known for unique designs and quality of tailoring AND promote strong social agendas without compromising entrepreneurial and monetary success.
